Kenya's Beatrice Chebet won the women's Olympic 5,000 meters gold in 14:28.56 on Monday.
Netherlands' Sifan Hassan claimed silver in 14:30.61, and Italian Nadia Battocletti took bronze in 14:31.64.
Chebet's thrilling sprint finish secured Kenya's first medal at the Paris Olympics.
Kenyan Faith Kipyegon initially finished second in 14:29.60 but was later disqualified.
Chebet led early and stayed with Kipyegon and Margaret Kipkemboi throughout the race, maintaining composure despite a collision involving Kipyegon and Ethiopia's Gudaf Tsegay.
Tokyo champion Hassan, fifth heading into the final 400 meters, couldn't match the Kenyans' speed in the final turn.
Chebet and Kipyegon celebrated with Kenyan flags amid wild cheers at the Stade de France.
Kipyegon was eventually disqualified, removing her from the results list and podium.
